It serves users, developers, companies, platforms, government bodies and other organizations, supporting moderation and efforts to counter restricted and harmful content. Checks are available through an online form and a public API. Users calculate a file's SHA-256 hash and submit only that hash: a digital fingerprint consisting of 64 hexadecimal characters. File contents are not sent to or stored through HashCheck. HashCheck distinguishes records in the Xexle service list, records from trusted submitters and unverified user submissions. A match is a technical signal and does not by itself prove that a file is illegal. No match does not establish a file's safety or legality. Public lookup is free. Xexle intends to keep it free for as long as the service operates, subject to request limits and abuse prevention. Users can submit hashes through a form, while approved trusted submitters can use the API. - [HashCheck](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/): online hash lookup. - [API documentation](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/api): request formats, result codes and limits. - [Integration examples](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/libraries): starter code for connecting your projects. - [Add hashes](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/add): user hash submissions. - [Trusted validators](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/validators): access conditions for API submissions. - [HashCheck FAQ](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/faq): questions about hashes and using the service. - [HashCheck terms](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/terms): acceptable use and data processing rules. - [HashCheck description for AI](https://hashcheck.xexle.com/llms.txt): a separate concise service description.
